Scripture tells us continuous not to fear. I looked it up and it is around 365 times Christ Says it. One line for each day.
I bring this up as it seems to be a big problem these days that people are angry, joyless, argumentative, afraid, depressed. So many people never stop to proclaim Christs Kingship, His indestructible Church, his unthinkable legions of Angels and his deep love for every single one of us.
“Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.” ~ Proverbs 29:25

Fear seemed to be the connecting thread- Pilate, who seemed so confident of his position, backing into cowardice when faced with a swing in public opinion; ambivalent Nicodemus joining the braver Joseph (who was apparently the more important in Sanhedrin terms) and finally overcoming fear to take risks. As British Royal Mail has issued a stamp of the Arimathea-descendant Galahad character,a few extra people may start focusing on the fear-overcoming figures of Joseph and Nicodemus this year. Back to the bravery of the present,it was inspiring to see the photos of the young priest using the mass rock in Mayo. I'm sure Mr Buck would find it of interest that his religious Society is dedicated to St Valentine.

Over the last year the normal level of unease has been turned up to almost boiling point by politicians and media lackeys terrifying people with constant daily diets of fear. We are being told to be afraid. Be very afraid. Things are bad they will get worse. Deep down we are hearing an anti Gospel. The last line of the Gospel from last Trinity Sunday (extraordinary Rite) was " Behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world."
