An unnamed Fine Gael source says: "The party is committed to playing its role in assisting refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants."
I wonder how much they emphasise this at election time? I must admit I'm also rather fuzzy about those three categories, they seem to be used interchangeably. Anyone who is fleeing a Muslim country should surely be hospitable to the suggestion that Islam is something to be feared.
Then there's this: "Shane O'Curry, director of the Irish branch of the European Network Against Racism, said that Cllr Murphy should be expelled from the party."
There seems to be millions of these anti-racism organisations. Who is funding them, I wonder?
I don't know if sharia law is really operative in parts of Ireland. It's quite irrelevant. It simply seems to be the case that, with large numbers of Muslims, you're going to get a certain number of radicals and terrorists. Why would we want that?

I just followed him on Twitter, to support him. Hopefully he'll get much more from the publicity.

Speaking in my mystic meg persona I predict that within 72 hours the councillor will join Kevin Myers in the new limbo for the silenced and damned.
It would be too much to hope for that we could actually have a discussion on the issues he highlights but Islam's dark side is the modern Irish taboo. Its a bit like the sexual and physical abuse of children in the past in Ireland. It went on and people suspected it went on but we made damn sure no one was allowed to talk about it in public. Free speech where are you??
Thou shalt not criticise Islam is one of the main core values in post catholic Ireland. Weep at how low we have sunk.

As of this moment there are 630+ reader comments on this article: www.independent.ie/irish-news/politics/we-will-take-any-necessary-action-taoiseach-distances-himself-from-fg-councillors-comments-on-islam-and-refugees-36109608.htmlI have read through many of the comments, and several are highly intelligent, and getting upvoted. Whether Shane O'Curry of the European Network Against Racism will deem the various comments in support of Cllr Murphy as "grotesque and hateful distortions of the truth" remains to be seen. The usual "if you question or voice criticism of any aspect whatsoever of the Liberal Leftist narrative you are a Nazi/White Supremacist/Bigot/Hater/Fascist/Racist/Homophobe/Islamiphobe/Far Right Nutjob and (a) belong in a re-education camp or (b) at the very least, should be shunned by your friends/neighbours/all of mainstream Irish society, handed a P45, and be deemed forever unemployable" comments appear throughout but are not getting upvoted by the readership. Which leads me to wonder, has Round One finally begun?

I see the good councillor is standing firm, and says he has received hundreds of supportive messages.

Hmmmm....I wonder whether the policy of the Independent is to delete comments from its articles after a certain point in time. I'll have to watch in the coming days and see whether I can discern a pattern. It's a shame because some of the comments were great. Boards.ie has a very active thread on Cllr Brian Murphy: www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057784826

UnitedAgainstRacism is calling for Cllr Murphy to step down:
They seem to be saying that if someone voices an opinion that the Liberal Leftist establishment disagrees with, he/she is unfit to hold public office....sounds like neo-fascism/neo-Stalinism to me. So much for their commitment to "diversity."
And maybe someone should tell UnitedAgainstRacim that Islam is a religion, not a race.

UnitedAgainstRacism. Sure.
Sounds like a typical Left wing shower of tools who call anything racism, with exceptions made for certain groups, of course. I wouldn't be surprised to find these people aligned with Antifa.

Virtually all the replies are negative, and quite a few people have pointed out that Islam isn't a race.
This is the funny thing about racists, though. They insist that race doesn't exist, anyway. Putting racism on a par with prejudice against unicorns.

I'm establishing a new rule for the forum.
Covfefe is an unbeatable argument and the first person who uses it in a thread wins outright.
It is completely unanswerable. It's mysterious, incomprehensible, like the tao. I've heard that, in Pulp Fiction, the contents of the suitcase was-- covfefe.
(Not really.)
