I was invited to take this survey by a mutual friend.
1) Are you a conservative? No, because I think conservative is too vague a term, although many would label me as such. If I had to label myself I would use the term integralist.
2) Were you always a conservative, and if not, when did you become one? I'll answer this as an integralist. I was always attracted to more traditional forms of culture but was politically and socially very left wing. From my teenage years I have gradually moved towards the more traditionalist stance that now take.
3) Are you a libertarian? No, I reject all forms of political ideology and philosophy coming from the Enlightenment.
4) Are you a fiscal conservative? No, In the sense that that usually means a supporter of capitalism. I reject socialism as well and support the system of Solidarism taught by Heinrich Pesch S.J which I believe best reflects the economic doctrine of the Catholic Church and promotes a just economy.
5) Do you believe in God? Yes.
6) Do you belong to any organized religion? Yes, Catholicism.
7) Are you a nationalist? Yes, I think that a program such as those followed in Spain and Portugal during the mid 20th century would be a good model for a united and independent Ireland to follow. Or the Poland and Hungarys of our own day.
8) Are you a democrat? Yes, but not absolute.
9) Are you a monarchist? Yes, but not to the exclusion of other systems.
10) Do you believe in the death penalty? Yes, I think it's a fair punishment for murder and certain other serious crimes.
11) Do you support Ireland leaving the E.U.? Yes absolutely. Although I am not necessarily opposed to the traditional Christian model of Empire I am completely opposed to the Classical Liberal model of the E.U. I believe that the E.U's program is designed to break down all of the cultural and religious barriers to extreme unbridled capitalism that have held Europa together in brotherhood for millennia. Their hand in mass migration being the final stage in a sinister program to wipe Christian Europe out completely.
12) Are you opposed to abortion? In all cases.
13) What writers and thinkers have influenced you the most?
Off the top of my head. - E.Michael Jones, David Wemhoff, Eugene Boylan, Fulton Sheen, Jean Ousset, Pádraig Mac Piarais, Dom Jean-Baptiste Chautard, Vitalis Lehodey, George Orwell, Donal Foley, St Maximillian Kolbe, Roger Buck.

1) Are you a conservative? Yes and No. I believe the family is the epicentre of life and traditional values of love, respect and religion should be embraced. The problem with conservatism for me is that it often implies that there is a blueprint for idealism and doesn't embrace those who may not fit in to the "criteria". Hence why so many who grow up in conservative households rebel.
2) Were you always a conservative, and if not, when did you become one? I grew up in a relatively conservative household and I would consider myself somewhat conservative.
3) Are you a libertarian? To some extent.
4) Are you a fiscal conservative? No but I see its advantages.
5) Do you believe in God? Yes.
6) Do you belong to any organized religion? I am a catholic.
7) Are you a nationalist? I would love to be apart of a United Ireland. I'm not sure if it's just because its been so built up but I am unsure of the implications.
8) Are you a democrat? 100%.
9) Are you a monarchist? No after the Queen dies they should do away with the Monarchy.
10) Do you believe in the death penalty? No.
11) Do you support Ireland leaving the E.U.? No I want Ireland and ideally the UK to be apart of the UK.
12) Are you opposed to abortion? Yes, except when the mother is going to die. According to the current church laws.

Good points. I think there may be a typo in point 11) although it could be argued the UK itself may be in danger of leaving the UK (and the EU)if Scotland leaves the UK post a successful Brexit departure.

I like Brian Holdsworth too, and Roger Buck is a fairly active contributor here. I'm beginning to wonder how we can attract some black Protestants or even godless heathen conservatives to this forum (with the purpose of converting them, of course). It is very papistical!

Thanks for that, Ciara. We do our best. At least you admit it. There were a lot fewer people committing suicide or engaging in self-harm in pre-liberal Ireland, for one thing. I would argue people were happier.

OMG, this forum is backwards! It's like I took a step back into the dark ages It's sort of connected to the title "Irish Conservative " Forum which you may have noticed before you chose to land here. This is a safe space for the minority group that chose to identify as Irish Conservatives. It has been offensive for some time to use the term "Dark Ages". The current term used by historians is the Early Middle Ages. Or Early Christian Ireland in our specific case.
