A wonderful documentary that highlights the hypocrisy of the Environmental/ Vegan lobby. It's so easy to get on board with these kinds of statements and movements the video scrutinizes (Electric cars and Solar come to mind). It brings up a lot more questions too like what is the impact of importing exotic foods, that are grown thousands of miles way As opposed to eating a local diet made up of only things that can naturally be produced with 100 km or miles from your location.

Happy World Otter day. As Saturday was also International Day of Biodiversity and today the feast of Phillip Neri,it might be worth noting that the spiritual dimension of respect for the earth didn't go into hibernation between Francis of Assisi and Laudato Sí by quoting from St John Henry's 19th century prayer to his founder: "Phillip,my glorious advocate, teach me to look at all I see around me after thy pattern as the creatures of God. Let me never forget that the same God who made me made the whole world and all men and animals that live in it. Gain me the grace to love all God's works for God's sake and all men for the sake of my Lord and Saviour" J.H.CardinalNewman
One indication that modern communications can serve conservation emerged last week at the announcement that Prague Zoo has raised a large sum, probably in excess of 100,000 in Euros, for the mountain pygmy possum, effected by recent fires in eastern Australia. Czech-cheque- check✓✓

"The stigma and bad reputation regarding sharks has lead to the name of the national shark attack database bring changed...now called the Shark Incident Database. And instead of using the word 'attack' authorities will now use 'bites','interactions' and 'negative encounters'. 'They're not attacking predators. They're fish that swim in the ocean and they're curious sometimes',Sealife Melbourne Aquarium's Tereza Todd said. Because they don't have hands, sharks use their teeth to feel around their environment." (cf,west australian Dec30)
We can certainly show some heart even to a shark- outcry against Asian sharkfin soup was, and is, understandable. But somehow I would have imagined that respect for the full magnitude of nature's way is ultimately a better path to conservation than change-Postman-to-PostalOperative-style semantics? Somehow I'm imagining scenes of well-meaning (perhaps Zened-up) eco-adventurers diving into the deep,in profound peace with all species, whilst the non-predators watch on,musing 'yum yum in my tum' in non-attacking fish-language.

Dear Lord ! Predators are part of the biological system. That's what they do. The denial of objective scientific realities by progressive types shows the insanity of this deranged anti-ideology.

A very interesting documentary I watch over Christmas about a Catholic Priest Johannes Schwarz has withdrew in the Italian Alps. He bought an old stone building and has transformed it into his mountaintop hermitage. A Very inspiring Priest.
