This time of year traditionally is flag flying and burning time up the road in the neighbouring jurisdiction. The summer heat and too much beer adds to bad tempers.
June has now become Pride month and a local Dublin parish decided to fly the rainbow flag to include gay and lesbian parishioners. This naturally upset other parishioners of the more rigid variety and the flag was removed.
Now arch anti catholic Marxist Brid Smith is organising a Pride protest next Saturday outside the church in support of the local gays and parish Council against the archdiocese. You couldn't make this up.
The churches attempt to be nice to gay people while being faithful to catholic sexual ethics is a fine balancing act. The rainbow flag isn't simply a sign of diversity. It proclaims a radical non Christian human anthropology. It is also a prominent symbol of the ongoing sexual revolution which must be problematic for any faithful Christian.
The clumsy albeit well meaning attempt to include has divided a parish. I am in no doubt a majority probably have no problem whatsoever with gay flags. Catholicism lite is also probably the dominant creed among those who still turn up to mass on a regular basis.

If a loyalist flag was put up next to a Catholic church it was to send a message saying that we, the loyalists, hold the power. Gay people can go to Mass or visit church anytime they want if they, like all of us, are sinners in search of genuine salvation through the teachings of the Church. There's no-one at the door stopping them. But we all know that the LGBT organisation is about destroying the Church as their activists belief's are at odds with the Church and Natural Law. For the Churches to support this organisation is to make a mockery of the Church.

I think some people who should know better (clergy) having presumably been trained in the power of signs and symbols are remarkably naive when it comes to much post modern secular ritual eg rainbow flags in churches or taking the knee in BLM protests.
Perhaps they think there is some sort of common ground. Churchill's remark about feeding crocodiles comes to mind. Or maybe some of them approve of these causes?

I wonder which flag it was? The old rainbow flag, or the even worse new one with the trans and BLM colours on it. What a sick joke the West has become.

I think it's the old hard line right wing plain rainbow 🌈 flag. The parish priest obviously did this to enrage the Trans community. But wasn't the trans community included already in the old flag as the T part of the LGBT?
Secular anti religious ideology often mirrors in a curious way some of the madder excesses of ancient theological disputes.

I'm sure I heard that the pink and blue in some LGBT+ flags is for MAPs (minor-attracted persons). I see it flying over a local Educate Together school. I would have thought that any suggestion of that would make parents nervous.

I would have thought that any suggestion of that would make parents nervous. Its not. They are the Trans colours. Despite being told for decades that it is a sexist stereotype to dress boys in blue and girls in pink( ignored by most normal parents) the trans people, or rather those who claim to represent them have said these colours represent boys who want to be girls who want to be boys. Apologies to Blur.

Speaking of pedophiles, here's a video from the San Francisco Gay Men's Choir. We've come a long way from "We just want to be left alone":

Sorry, I meant to add, a couple of the people involved in the choir have already been discovered to be convicted sex offenders.

That deleted video is available on Rod Drehers site. He has had some sombre reflections on how the sexual revolution is panning out. He speculates that if society blesses allowing children to mutilate themselves chemically in the interests of changing their gender then those same children have the "right" to have consensual sexual relations. Including with adults......
