the Irish diaspora is, in proportion to the population of the country proper, the largest on earth; if every one of them moved back here; we would suddenly have a serious overpopulation problem. I am curious what you generally think of them; and what personal experience if any you have with them? I myself have a number of Irish American relatives; who I like; but I admit that Irish Americans are the only part of the diaspora I have had much in terms of personal interactions with. if this is placed in the wrong category tell me and i will copy paste this post into a thread in the category it belongs in.

I don't have an opinion honestly. But I do find it amusing how Irish people will slag Americans off as "plastic paddy", but find some celebrity with the most inane connection to the country, and they're as Irish as Irish can be. It's kind of like how Irish people one moment act embarrassed or annoyed by stereotypes, but the next moment they ham it up to impress foreigners. As much as I love my race, we are often an arrogant, inconsistent lot.
