Joke that I found today. Call me silly if you like. View Attachment(Hope that something matters after all still!) "And on the hill of Cerin Amroth when we forsook both the Shadow and the Twilight this doom we accepted" Although he's unlikely to reach 120+ years on the throne like Aragon,it might be a good opportunity to congratulate the people of Sweden on Carl XVI Gustaf's golden jubilee this week. 👏👏👏 While we in the English/Celtic-languages-world mightn't focus on the Swedish Throne much, the greetings exchanged with John Paul II on one of St Bridget of Sweden's anniversaries come to mind as a particular memory. The fact that his ascension happened during the first term of Olof Palme's first premiership, and the fact, also, that some people around the world are this month also remembering the beginning of Pinochet's time as Chilean president following the disastrous death of his predecessor, serve as reminders that public office wasn't easy during this period and it perhaps wasn't easy, even for a ceremonial royal from a peaceful nation.

This year having several jubilees, the prime Royal one His Majesty´s 50th anniversary. Sharing the portrait gallery on our last 500 years Regents: www.kungahuset.se/sveriges-monarki/monarkins-historia#h-SverigesmonarkerKing Carl XVI Gustaf has always held a good profile in his Royal representative roles, never really becoming entangled in the political matters. Social Democrats leader Olof Palme, the Prime Minister murdered on open street in 1986, was altogether a controversial man on the other hand, both loved and hated (also among some Leftists). Consensus has been among the major facets in Sweden for about 200 years. When the Reformation took hold in (late) 16th century, the "unity" State got its stronghold and never had it broken for about the entire period.

Hadn't known before Friday that the Swedish Prime Minister was married to a female Lutheran pastor, now there's a curiosity. Strange seeing Crown-Prince Frederick of Denmark linking a woman with a dog-collar into the room; I suppose in today's world we should happy that she's doesn't practise moon-worship or smoke sacramental pumpkinseed.
