I read "The Triumph of Failure". I started several other of his books but I couldn't persist with them. I think he's best when he writes about religion. He's a fine writer, but I sometimes find his exposition too oblique.
I think he is discussed quite extensively in the Catholic Literature thread on the Irish Catholics Forum.

I chose Kilmorna because it's about the 1867 Fenian rising, which intrigues me, so figured it would have some action and drama, and indeed it does.
