Fr Roy Donovan of the diocese of Cashel and Emly has been in the papers again calling for women priests, based in part on this belief that women are better able to offer the sacrifice of the Mass because they understand the concept of the shedding of blood. The Archbishop of Cashel is trying to do what he backed down from doing in his previous diocese; to introduce the permanent diaconate. Fr Donovan strongly disagrees with this and is wants the Archbishop to delay the introduction in order to allow the papal commission on the question of women deacons to complete their work. www.irishtimes.com/news/social-affairs/religion-and-beliefs/limerick-priest-challenges-authorities-over-role-of-women-in-church-1.3182908Of course, Fr Donovan is full of the spirit of Vatican II, but like so many others who proclaim their fondness for the Church Council, they refuse to actually read the letter of Vatican II and to adhere to the documents which issued forth. In it they would find an emphasis on the obedience owing to bishops, and to the magisterium of the Church. Twitter, of course, has the usual commentary that the Church only permits women to clean Churches, ignoring the fact that female regions orders own, manage and control, hospitals, schools, farms, and other enterprises all over the world, and govern themselves for the most part.

That's most bizarre argument I've ever heard.

The catholic church has been ordaining women priests and bishops for decades now. There are fine exceptions but seminaries seem to have been churning out spineless wimpy floppy camp if not overtly homosexual clergy for decades. And then we wonder why men don't want to be priests!
Technically they are genetically male but with gender fluidity all the rage what is stopping them coming out into the open?
