I have not, but I quite liked Rev. I think even secular people are getting tired of the cliché of the thin-lipped, pervy, fanatical priest.

I loved Rev and a priest friend of mine says its' depiction of pastoral life and church bureaucracy is spot on. The Rev even has a mystical Easter experience which I found very moving and profound.
The BBC had a comedy series in the 1970s starring Arthur Lowe, of Dad's Army fame, called "Bless me Father" about a pre Vatican ii English parish which was from my recollection, an affectionate and warm depiction of the PP and his new enthusiastic but untested curate. Miles away from the sneering nasty Irish cult series "Fr Ted" which depicted priests as fools , crooks , social misfits and swearing alcoholics.

I wrote about "Bless Me Father" here. irishpapist.blogspot.ie/2013/10/bless-me-father.htmlI hope it's not obnoxious to link to one's own writings, but it seems redundant to write it all out again! I liked it. Funnily enough, its writer is a liberal (even dissident) Catholic, but he still managed to portray an old-fashioned priest sympathetically.

I hope it's not obnoxious to link to one's own writings, but it seems redundant to write it all out again! Well, personally, Maolsheachlann, I think it's HIGHLY obnoxious of you. If I ever did something like that, I hope people would take me out and have me shot! : - ) Seriously, I look haven't looked at the blog yet, but I look forward to reading it soon (if I don't post something from my own blog first or point to my links below in the meantime ; - ) ...)

Maolsheachlann I read your comments on "Bless me Father" and enjoyed them immensely. Am dismayed at your invincibly ignorant blindness to the charms of "Dads army" however. I pray for your conversion.

Thirty minutes of one guy saying, "They do not like it up 'em!", one guy saying, "Stupid boy!", and another guy saying, "Me mum told me to wear my thermal vest"....
I mean, Catherine Zeta Jones might have added something to the film, but I'm still giving it a miss!
Thanks for the kind words about my post, though.
