What do you think of 3D movies? I was going to jest that, if perhaps FRANCIS MAN OF HIS WORD gets shown in 3d, there'll be plenty of refugee/prisoner/Muslim feet coming out at everyone to wash and/or kiss, but- NO, that would be too cheap a shot. My mother has often mention a 3d one that she's seen decades ago,a horror film set in a waxworks. Amazing how certain things like that stick in the memory, not necessarily the most artistic things. Looking at the 3d glasses,an interesting reflection on the subject of inartistic things by Vita Sackville-West comes to mind, "to say the worst at once, and to say it strongly, it must be admitted that much of l'Histoire d'une âme is intolerable to a different kind of mind.... Strange it is that religion which once inspired the noblest examples of man's creation should find expression also in the gaudy and the tinsel; the artificial flowers, the gaudy gilding, the figures coloured in the lollipop pinks and blues, simpering vulgarity mixed with the insipidity of bad sentimentalism. Where are the jewelled windows of Bourges and Auxerre?...(Thérèse's) spiritual attainments might rival those of her high Castilian namesake, but in her daily and vernacular exposition she spoke to and for the many, the unpretentious men and women who were troubled, who were confused, who knew nothing of the hierarchy of prayer or it's seven mansions" In some places Sackville-West seems even drier towards Thérèse, but her book was written ten years before the death of Pauline Martin; you can't help speculate that, had she read the more artless, unedited version of STORY OF A SOUL, without Pauline's embellishments, she may have been a bit less harsh.

Some have claimed Francis Man of his Word is a propaganda work. I see it as an act of profound humility and modesty. Pope Francis is poking fun at the celebrity culture surrounding the modern papacy. Indeed the very title indicates this cinematic highlight of the decade is meant to be viewed ironically. It can also be used as a penitential exercise but one is not permitted to roll their eyes or think reactionary uncharitable rigid thoughts at any point during the viewing.Watching it in 3D is only for really bad sinners like Hitler and Donald Trump.

Calling a Jesuit a man of his word is always ambiguous to begin with!

I'm guessing people don't have a whole lot to say about 3D movies.
I'm always trying to expand the subject matter of the forum!

In my limited experience with 3D films, I found the 3D backgrounds interesting to look at (but not very necessary); however, the 3D foregrounds were very distracting from the rest of the film at times.
