Does anyone on here sport this distinctively Irish garment?
I sometimes consider getting one, although I understand they can be quite expensive.
They are very folksy, rootsy and backward-looking, so of course, I'm drawn to them.

My godmother bought me a grey one for my 18th birthday and it lasted well over 20 years. It is like a sponge when it rains which I think is meant to keep you warm in Atlantic swells. Mind you I think oilskins would be more useful if you are on a trawler.
I may be mistaken but there is quite a strict definition of what exactly an Aran jumper consists of based on the stitching used. My geansai was probably just a much loved craft made chunky Irish jumper.
