Beyond being the biggest Catholic church in Kansas, this will be the biggest Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) church in the world. With a seating capacity of over 1,500, it will serve the growing community of St. Mary's for generations to come. St Mary is a very interesting place, about 40 years ago it had no traditional catholic families in it. Today it has more than 4000 people living and attending Masses in the town. Here is a contribution to this fine initiative. Theme: veneration of relics. This shows our piece of bone from late Blessed Emperor Karl of Austria-Hungary being installed in our parish church in 2015. Celebrant in front of the reliquarium is our beloved Bishop Anders now Cardinal Arborelius O.C.D. head of Stockholm diocese i.e. "Sweden´s one diocese" along with the Malteser Knights and Dames of the Scandinavian Association of the Souvereign Military Order of Malta.

A very interesting and inspiring couple, the last enthroned Hapsburgs. An interesting (sort of) connection that the Northern Irish troubles has with Bl Charles' family was eldest son Otto's defence of John Paul II in the European Parliament when Iain Paisley made his famous antichrist rant against the pontiff. Archduke Otto it was who pulled the banner from mr.Iain and helped escort him out. An Australian Catholic writer has included the incident in a book just published. I'm sure that many would argue that Mr Paisley wasn't seeing trees from woods in focusing on the Bishop of Rome in a hall belonging to a globalist organisation, but perhaps knowing that morally strong people like Archduke vonHapsburg once had enough optimism to stand in the EU parliament should give hope

It was the brave man´s daughter, Her Highness Walburga Habsburg Douglas, a most pious Catholic and previously a rare Conservative (in the honest sense) member of parliament in Sweden for many years, who made the very first act of opening the border, tearing down the Iron Curtain, on that now distant day once upon a time in Hungary.

I was reading an article somewhere recently where the author argued we need to make Catholicism Awkward again.
A religion that makes little or no demands and that costs us nothing tends not to attract the seeker or to keep the believer .

I was impressed by the magnanimous attitude of the Presbyterian church to this sale . Historically both churches have not seen eye to eye so this gesture is doubly welcome. I suspect ironically some main stream catholic dioceses who still suspect the classical Latin rite of Mass, would have refused to offer a surplus to needs building to a catholic traditionalist community.

Fantastic news, I was recently looking to see if the Institute still did Masses up in Belfast but couldn't find anything about it, so this is more than welcome.

The ICKSP first came to Belfast in February 2011. The first Holy Mass offered was by Monsignor Wach, founder and Prior General in St Malachy's church. He was accompanied by Canon Lebocq, Prior of the Sacred Heart church in Limerick. Since then Canon Lebocq (or another priest of the Institute) has travelled to Belfast on a monthly basis to offer the Holy Mass.
At the present time, The Institute offers Holy Mass in St Therese of Lisieux church Once or twice a month at 4:00pm They also offer daily Mass when they are staying in Belfast. We feel very blessed in Belfast to have such strong links to the Institute and hope that these links will continue to strengthen and develop further especially with the new Purchase of the Church. In particular we are indebted to Canon Lebocq for his constancy and tireless work on our behalf, as he travels 450 miles round trip each month.

A recent newsletter highlighted the life of eye-doctor Blessed László BotthyányStrattman, who at one stage inherited a princely title, confirmed by this dynasty and remained a strong supporter of Charles and Zita after their exile. The fact that the Order of St Stephen of Hungary which he was also involved with, has been resurrected within the last decade after decades of being abolished during communist government is a huge nod to the country's Christian founding for today's world. Congratulations to the Hapsburg who (civilly) married last week, Archduchess Elenornore "of Austria, Hungary, Bohemia and Croatia",who promised a full Catholic ceremony post-covid restrictions. All's fair in love and war,but I wonder what her beatified great-grandfather would think of today's priorities?
