On EWTN yesterday Cardinal Mueller formerly of the congregation of the doctrine of the Faith denounced Pachamama as an idol and lamented the confusion around this ambiguous image enshrined at the heart of the scene of the martyrdom of St Peter.
Few in high places seem to notice the reverse religious colonialism ; We cannot "impose" on native people's but we should literally prostrate ourselves before theirs.
In a pathetically utterly predictable gesture the pope apologised for the removal of 5 Pachamama idols last week by faithful catholics. They were then miraculously recovered from the Tiber by the Italian police. The Tiber is an old slow river but I find this like so much that comes from Rome , increasingly far fetched.
In reparation Papapachama will give the rescued idols a place of honour at the final synod mass tomorrow. This petty gesture is a sign of a tone deaf papacy , which ignores the beliefs and spiritual convictions of faithful Catholics and insists on getting his own way .
This terrible synod ignored why over 700 million Catholics have joined Pentecostal churches. A large elephant would have made a more appropriate idol to fall down before .Embracing liberation theology has helped empty catholic churches. When faced with modernist Catholicism south Americans stay pagan or turn evangelical protestant. At least those faiths believe in a supernatural reality. They are religions in the traditional sense unlike the new leftist environmental faith masquerading as Catholicism.
These are dark days indeed. Many of us have abandoned God. May God not abandon us in the time of trial.

Many of us have abandoned God. May God not abandon us in the time of trial. Aside from married clergy and pachamamas, it should also be questioned whether the conservation records of indigenous peoples have always been perfect. Many have traditions of cruelty to animals that wouldn't have passed muster in the West since preVictorian times. I also came across an example recently, ironically in the writings of David Attenborough, someone who greatly respected primitive cultures. BBC's 1950s ZooQuest tried hard to film Papua New Guinea's birds of paradise with limited success. Even he remarked on the headdresses and nose-rings of the indigenous population- he estimated hundreds,at the very least,or,more likely, thousands of birds of paradise were slaughtered to accommodate the adult males in a tribe. Despite his fairly obvious theory that the scarcity of the birds was connected with this,Europeans were given indirect responsibility,as western administration of the region had all but stopped tribal wars, leading hunters to expand their territories. The country was a protectorate of Australia at the time, until the '70s. Could they be expected to let them kill each other? A later documentary of Sir David, dealing more directly with the topic, cited the example of Easter Island. Rightly so,but the original inhabitants of the island deforested and destroyed the place without 'white' intervention.

Well the famous miraculously rescued Pachamamas were conspicuously absent from the final synod mass although they did appear on Saturday I believe in St Peter's.
Normally there are no statues near the high altar in St Peter's basilica but on Sunday a large very traditional madonna and child was installed in a prominent location. Perhaps a grown up in the Vatican decided enough was enough? Or more likely it was decided to engage in damage limitation.
Austin Ivereigh the papal biographer and spokespeople for the Vatican have denied any adoration was offered to Pachamama. It is a pity the video footage of the prostrate worshippers in the Vatican gardens seem to contradict those reassuring sedatives .
Away from this important but symbolic issue the carefully selected synod agreed to ordain married men. This will probably no doubt become universal within a decade or two. The synod has also called for a female diaconate whiçh involves public preaching at mass. After a decade or two of this the push for female priests and bishops will follow . The third revolutionary decision will be an Amazonian rite which may result in Pachamama rituals coming to the local Amazonian catholic church. The local Pentecostals must be thinking Christmas has come early. I am not sure if they celebrate that papist feast but you get the idea.
A prominent bishop chosen by Francis for the Synod boasted he had never baptised an indigenous person and openly called for female ordination. Those videos of Pachamama have already caused embarrassment to Catholics combating claims about catholic idol worship from Pentecostals. Islamic propagandists will also make hay with these images. I can't imagine the Orthodox who do take liturgy seriously will be impressed by this lunacy either .
All in all a very big mess. But that was The whole plan wasn't it?

If this supposingly probable revolution scenario materialises the true Catholic Church will not be visible anymore. Downfall towards the pit in just a few generations ahead. Hidden remnant in the margin? Beastly, masonic, protestant and utterly heretical pseudo-liturgical celebrations in a bitches brew "of togetherness". Red State machinations and mocking of true Catholicism everywhere. Not a happy prospect.
(Key word: If.)

Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica today- the 'little big' feastday of the year that fewer people understand, but perhaps a more relevant day of prayer than ever. Even the novus ordo Office of Readings is very reflective- probably giving the same message as November 1 in a more poetic way. Anyone who attended the extraordinary form yesterday would have heard mention of the feast of the Four Crowned Martyrs, who by tradition were sculptors, martyred for refusing to make classic Roman gods. No cultural sensitivity there and a perfect patronage against pacman's-mamas(?)

Even if (if!) the small statues were only symbols etc the agenda itself of making "revolutionary changes" could hardly do any better than damage. Mass or mess? The choices are not our´s but our hierarchy´s?

Even if (if!) the small statues were only symbols etc the agenda itself of making "revolutionary changes" could hardly do any better than damage. Mass or mess? The choices are not our´s but our hierarchy´s? The use of the term 'St Gallen mafia' is probably unfortunate as the Irish monk that the Swiss city was eventually named after seems to have been far from compromising on these things: "At this point where the Upper Rhine flows into the lake they disembarked and found a ruined chapel dedicated to St Aurelia which had been converted into a pagan temple...Gall first preached to the multitude and called them to turn away from the worship of the bronze images which they had affixed to the walls of this former church. He then took down the images, broke them with stones and threw them into the lake...finally Columban proceeded to the altar which he anointed with oil,and having put the relics of St Aurelia within, he put an altar-cloth upon it and celebrated mass" (cf, Tomas O'Fiaich, who finds that the early authors portray Columban as the gentler,St Gall as the tempestuous) A couple of interesting points in this passage. Firstly that a 'tired and decaying' European Catholicism existed in the early Seventh Century and the struggle is not new. The last line suggests that the relic of St Aurelia was still on the premises- it seems to have been a paganism that came in through a desire to be relevant, more than a complete takeover. We could remark "nothing new under the sun",except that Solomon is hardly the appropriate one to quote here, having gone for the relevant himself. O'Fiaich does include Columban's own contribution : "Jonas describes how Columban came on a crowd of pagans gathered in the woods around a vat of beer which they were offering to woden. The saint breathed on the cauldron and it burst with a loud noise so that all the beer poured out on the ground" A bit like the 'letter from mam' that mentioned the uncle who died by drowning in the distillery vat-"they tried to save him but he fought too bravely"- if you're looking for conversions from paganism this would be it. On a positive note,Francis has told the people of Japan that his current visit is the fulfilment of a childhood dream of following the steps of Francis Xavier,a man who,His Holiness would know, compromised little with it came to Christianity's beliefs.
