This hilarious Irish Times article (which I missed until now) laments the fact that, according to the survey reported in it, two-thirds of Irish people feel political correctness has gone too far. www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/two-thirds-of-people-say-ireland-is-too-politically-correct-1.3871647A horrifying forty-seven per cent agreed that "we are losing Irish identity in the face of foreign national influx" and thirty-eight per cent of women-- obviously brainwashed by the patriarchy-- believe the #MeToo movement has gone too far. Best quote of the article: "The young, bright-eyed, nimble on their feet, tech-savvy people thrive in a globalised world and are going to have multiple identities – Irish, European, global citizen – which is a wonderful diluter of prejudice.” So the old, rheumy-eyed, slow-footed Luddites among us should prepare for obsolescence, I take it. "A lot done, more to do", for the social engineers, it seems.
