I have always hated intellectual dishonesty. What drew me to conservatism as a teenager was a visceral disgust with the hypocrisy of everyone so many on the Left. It is this disgust, more than anything, that sustains my zeal.
I thought a thread showcasing Ireland's Limousine Liberals (or Champagne Socialists as they say in Europe) was in order.
That sanctimonious dwarf Michael D. Higgins PAFSOJ* really sticks in my craw:

I don't mind the President living in style. But I doubt Higgins has ever slummed it!

I don't mind the President living in style. But I doubt Higgins has ever slummed it! I don't either - it's like an honorarium. The key questions to my mind are: How much wealth has the man who speaks so derisively about "accumulating wealth" accumulated? And of that wealth, how much was accumulated from the taxpayer, how much has he retained, and how much has he given away and to whom?

One that sticks in my craw particularly is the title of Fergus Finlay's book "Notes from the Margins". As though he has ever been anywhere except the mainstream.

When he retires he will have a presidential pension , a ministerial pension , a TDs pension , his UCG lecturers pension and probably the old age pension(which is all most of us can hope for). I wonder what all this is worth as the tax payer will end up shelling out the cash?
In addition he also has the royalties on his groundbreaking poetry which will probably end up as compulsory reading on the Leaving cert.

He'll pull us all up with him!
Honestly, this is how I have heard socialists defend public sector unions greed.
