Anybody who relies on RTE for its news would be forgiven for believing that DV was purely a one way street that women were the sole victims and that men were solely responsible. This attitude was maintained through the summer months and again in October-November. Male victims are simply airbrushed out, their existence is denied; instead, men are implicitly depicted as perpetrators. MVI protested to RTE last June about their biased coverage and again in November. We always all have a perspective that domestic violence can only happen to women. But, it is not always true all the time. That's why Istanbul has some rules and regulations for Domestic Violence Services For Men.

Yes it always annoys me when we are subjected to passive aggressive slogans or misleading issues like violence against women as if there wasn't more violence against men and that somehow its not as bad or serious when men are assaulted or killed. Surely equality comes into it? To claim violence against women is worse is actually quite old fashioned and patriarchal? And as we all know the patriarchy is BAD!

Most liberal media outlets have deceived their customers by ever only reporting one half of the narrative, the half that fits in with their ideology favourites such as feminism. John Waters downfall from the establishment started when he began writing articles on how men were badly treated in the divorce courts and elsewhere. Some colleagues and superiors told him to veer away from this as it wouldn't do him any good. I think the Bishops are afraid to go against the prevailing ideology, sadly.

Domestic abuse by women towards men is incredibly humiliating and degrading for men and often goes underreported due to stigma and a fear of being regarded as weak.

I really hate the narrative that has been constructed whereby focusing more on domestic violence against men somehow means diminishing violence against women. Domestic violence by men against women is awful and should be denounced loudly. Men are stronger than women, for the most part, and so any man who attacks a woman is a cowardly bully, or at least mentally ill. Domestic violence by women against men is also awful. Men are in the position that if they try to defend themselves they might be the one accused of violence. There is also the stigma and shame that Cato mentioned. It's not a competition and it's very sad it's been framed as one.

Its like the narrative around "Hate speech" were a violent attack is regarded as much more repulsive if it is motivated by racism or prejudice. That must be a great consolation to the ordinary victims of brutal criminal violence as they nurse their injuries and get no justice as the police are too busy processing Hate crime reports to police the streets and prevent crime.
