It hasn't been a great year for the forces of reaction but a few people seem to deserve an honourable mention for fighting the good fight.
Senator Sharon Keoghan is one of the few normal people in the Seanad . She gets dogs abuse from the Love is Love people but she knows how to hold her own. An outspoken lady.
Fr Sean Sheehy upset many by preaching about sin and was condemned by the Bishop of Kerry for hurting people's feelings. If anyone doubts there are at least two religions claiming to be catholic in Ireland the matter was brought into very clear focus in Listowel. He has received 5,000 letters of support I am happy to learn so many people still write letters.
The new King of England seems to be a small c Conservative when it comes to conservation and decent attractive architecture. Once apon a time he was denounced for such bizarre eccentricities. He has travelled here quite a bit in recent years and those who meet him seem quite impressed.
