Open discussion on tolerance towards McCarthy or why his position became so badly soaked with antagonism from so many. It is from one of the amazing intellectual talk hours that are a treasure to find on Youtube yet. Dated 1966 it gets both into then contemporary problems, and into general attitudes that could well be applied also today. Something to learn from for instance as related to Trump instead of McCarthy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiuvVk5LjYc(Firing Line with William F. Buckley Jr.: McCarthyism: Past, Present, Future)

Buckley Jr.: McCarthyism: Past, Present, Future) I agree Tomas YouTube is an amazing archival source . Firing Line is a great place for conservative debates. Mc Carthy was his own worst energy. He did identify a trend among certain progressives to lean towards Moscow. He was a bit of a bully with a drink problem who wasn't able to substantiate many of his wilder claims. He was supported in the Senate by none other than our own favourite JF Kennedy. Buckley is a bit of an actor too. Some find his style a bit over the top but I find him amusing and interesting.
