Any thoughts on the upcoming NI local elections. Particularly how Aontu will do? also interesting smaller right wing parties have made no effort to stand in any election in the North referring to IFP,NP and Renua. How significant is the pro life vote? I think it will be a very interesting election. Aontu currently has two council seats one in Derry Emmett Doyle who hasn't been elected yet Dr Anne McCloskey won Aontus only seat in 2019 as Deputy leader but has since resigned and left Aontu she was replaced by Doyle although he did receive the highest vote of any Aontu candidate in the recent Assembly election and Denise Mullen in Tyrone also a former Deputy leader of Aontu who was elected as an SDLP candiate in 2019 but joined Aontu after refusing to vote in favour of same sex marriage. They ran 11 candidates in 2019 and now are running 18 candidates in 2023. Aontu currently have no councillors or TDs in Donegal despite the fact it has 8% more anti abortion voters than the national average and 14% less pro abortion voters. Interesting dynamic. Aontu currently has 3 councillors in the south and 1 TD. What do you see in the future for Aontu and pro life politics in general.
