A movie is about to hit our screens about an imminent Civil War in the world's second biggest democracy. A few years ago the prospect of another conflict like the 19th century cessation by the Confederacy would have been laughed at but now Americans openly speculate.
The November presidential election may see rioting and unrest regardless of who wins. Americans are drifting into two or three political tribes but I can't see the states themselves or the nuclear armed US military divide and fight among themselves.
One result of the on line age is an increase in rage and polarisation. Ronald Reagan was literally Hitler among leftists. Then George Herbert Bush! Then the son. And finally the real Hitler , an ex Democrat with Orange hair and a huge ego who lost a subsequent election and his power. Not that he went gracefully but Berlin 1945 it wasn't.
I don't see a Civil War in the old fashioned sense least of all because it would be over very quickly unless the losers launch a terrorist style guerilla war. I ll still go to the movie though....

I watched a film, Bushwick (2017) some years ago, on some streaming channel, that was a terrible attempt at woke propaganda after a promising start. Bushwick (a Brooklyn suburb) under mysterious attack by, we eventually learn, Southern militias (Texans I recall). The little protagonist group of Bushwick residents in the thick of it are a student type, druggy prostitute type and a brooding ex-military man. They capture one militia man, a well groomed white Texan....and manage eventually to push back against the 'invasion', with one scene showing orthodox Jews with guns joining them in a heroic battle. They tried to tick most boxes, getting as many minorities on their side as possible against the invading baddies. Needless to say, by the end of the movie, I was rooting for the Texans

You are not alone.
