Along with being a great poet, T.S. Eliot was one of the leading literary conservatives of the 20c. Am I the only one who thinks Samantha Power headlining a lecture series named after him, with help from Big Intellectual Fintan O'Toole, is the height of irony? www.abbeytheatre.ie/whats-on/t-s-eliot-lecture-samantha-power/What's next? Gene Kerrigan and Marian Keyes giving keynotes at a C.S. Lewis convention?

The sad thing is, the Irish Intelligentsia is in the main so illiterate they probably don't know Eliot was a conservative. Hell, they probably think he was English.

Liberals don't do irony. I saw that ad too and almost cried in frustration.
I think the key to understanding the hijacking of Eliot is simple snobbery. Educated liberals worship or more likely pay lip service at the altars of the literary High Modernists like Joyce, Proust, Yeats and Eliot. It's one of the last acceptable forms of elitist posturing left.

I didn't know either, but apparently she was a super SJW advisor to Obama who is believed to have influential his Libyan intervention. Considering the Pandora's box this has opened, I would not like to have that on my own conscience.

You reactionary relics need to get out into the real world. Samantha power is a woman. A powerful woman. The 41st most powerful woman in the world according to Forbes magazine.
Dublin born Power was Obamas ambassador to the UN and presided over numerous diplomatic triumphs such as ..... cough cough.
On a positive note she did resign from the Obama campaign in 2008 for calling Senator Hillary Clinton a "monster".Maybe that's why she is giving the Eliot lecture?
