I saw this story and I wasn't sure what to think. It's disgraceful whoever does it, but I wonder is it kids or teenagers doing it for laughs-- like drawing swastikas on walls?

Sure, we will never know unless they are caught, but I think it's naive to presume that all such activity is either a false flag perpetrated by conservatives or kids having a laugh. I don't believe the eucharistic desecrations or theft of relics is either of the above.

I certainly don't believe it's a "false flag" action by conservatives-- it's very different from a liberal scrawling the n-word on a wall. I can't believe any Catholic would desecrate a statue of the Blessed Virgin for propaganda purposes.

I agree with you, but the neo-fascist Left will claim this in order to distract from the fact that they engage in their own false flags. In my view we have to be prepared to acknowledge the possibility however unlikely unless we can prove otherwise, or it will cripple our ability to expose them when they employ this tactic themselves. I'm not aware of any Leftist false flags here in Ireland, but in the US many racist and anti-semitic incidents have later proven to have been manufactured by leftists. Much of the "KKK" wing of the Alt-Right is actually controlled opposition. The rot in the neo-Marxist propaganda machine goes very, very deep.

As it's in Ulster you can't eliminate good old fashioned anti popery but then again why now? The statue seems to have been up for some time without an issue. I would strongly suspect the perpetrator has serious mental health problems. Many people with mental problems do act on ways that may look satanic or evil but are really simply the products of disturbed tortured minds.
Rural Tyrone is hardly the place to start an Iconoclastic outburst either. I think the theft of St Lawerence o Tooles heart was very strange but I don't think it was an explicit anti-catholic gesture. Even stranger was the fact it survived the Reformation in Dublin.
