I could only read about half that article. Do these people ever think outside the tiresome categories of race and gender?
I never liked Hannity or O'Reilly, who simply seem tiresome libertarian blowhards to me. Buchanan and Bannon have steered American conservatism away from individualism towards traditionalism. An Irish-American influence to celebrate! And thw comment about Irish Americans lacking any real connection to Irishness seems stupid to me, since they tend to be more connected to their national heritage than the native Irish!

"Do these people ever think outside the tiresome categories of race and gender?" Short answer, no, they don't. Divide and conquer is the king of propaganda weapons; regardless of your opinion of Alex Jones, he was very prescient to name his website "Infowars." Speaking of divide and conquer, I found this guy today, who has gone viral: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpZbVrIP1zcI never liked Hannity and O'Reilly either, but I give Hannity credit insofar as there is no one on mainstream American TV, apart from Tucker Carlson, who has been so consistently and unapologetically pro-trump. Hannity is more popular than Tucker, so his influence is greater.

It seems the angriest person on show in this article is the author himself. He mentions some left leaning Irish (the Berrigans among them) and Tom Hayden as 'a rebel in the tradition of James Connolly (and Gerry Adams)'. Is Gerry Adams the author's exemplar of an Irish Rebel? What about Jo Biden, Tim Kaine, Irish Catholic Democrats. Stephen Colbert, the lefty TV show host is Irish Catholic descended. The only thing that all this demonstrates is that the current U.S. Irish Catholic politicians/media types are spread over the whole political spectrum. You could summarise the piece by saying that the author approves when US Irish Catholics are left liberal, even when they are loudmouth. Any who are on the right are deplorable. The author is in a huff.
