"Conservatism knows what it is against - liberals and the left - but has forgotten what it is for " Fintan lists five truths which conservatives "pretend to adhere to". He lists Fiscal caution , Prudence , Family values, Patriotism and the Rule of law.
Using Trump as his main example he claims conservatives have abandoned all these principles. Leaving aside the fact Trump is not in my opinion a conservative O Toole misses the fact many Americans backed him because of the ghastly alternative. Conservatives are great believers in doing what is possible rather than planning utopia with other people's money usually.
Also conservatism especially in the USA is a big tent. Some fiscal conservatives are socially liberal. Many foreign policy hawks do favour higher spending on defence and lower taxes which seems like wishful thinking. Unlike the Irish liberal left and Mad Marxist Fringe American conservatives are diverse and inclusive it would seem .
Interesting article which shows conclusively that Fintan is smarter than any conservative.

I've noticed that O'Toole likes to try to use people's own arguments against them, to turn the tables on them. It's a common strategy of his. He had an article a while back saying the Eighth Amendment hasn't served conservatives well, though I didn't read it.

Yes he accused the conservative reactionaries of making the whole abortion thing into a moral panic and making it a real life issue where previous to this no one had advocated for "choice". This hardly ties in with the normal feminist narrative of us "exporting our abortion problem". Fintan is the cleverest boy in the class.
