Fancy dress is one thing, sexualised fancy dress is another.

Depressing, and even frightening in its worldwide scope. Children are confronted with so much abuse that it can become devastating. Poor souls! And why on earth should only one side or the argument be condescended. 

In public libraries here in Sweden (the one I work in is a typical mainstream progressive one) might well have been "open" to an event like this. Perhaps they would make some effort to keep off the very worst kinds of shows, but a thing like the one mentioned in the article might not have been dismissed without ado. So many ordinary personnel seem to strive hard to be so open minded that their brains are in real risk to fall out... Prayers needed.
