The Sunday Times Irish version published a half page article on the above incident yesterday . The journalist concerned was present throughout the events but the article was exclusively about the threat of the far right. Main stream media is a bit of a highly predictable broken record at this stage.

I do not know what is the problem with wearing masks and social distancing. My family and I are coping with it and are glad to do so to prevent us getting. Covid 19. My adult daughter has severe asthma and would not dream of not wearing a mask despite discomfort. I live alone and am over 66. My adult children visit in accordance with government regulations. I am unable to visit my son and grandson in England which I find hard but have to accept it, some are coping with worse situations and yes my children are worried about jobs etc. We have to accept that we need to act on the knowledge we have to fight this and hope we can return to some kind of normality As much as I find Mask wearing irksome it and social distancing do reduce the spread of a nasty disease which can cause significant deaths in vulnerable groups. Normally we have a pretty wide expression of rightist views expressed here but I deleted a couple of posts from some one earlier this year who claimed Covid was a hoax. It is regrettable to have to censor anything but these bizarre untruths are not made in good faith. Peddling deliberately objective falsehoods is unacceptable. [br Red rag to a bull there Cato! I passed two elderly gentlemen today near my home who had obviously just met and were chatting but were standing miles apart. I can see that they, and you, seem to sincerely believe in the NPHET Covid output. I suppose I do immerse myself in the alternative media and admit the possibility of serious bias and error but "deliberately objective falsehoods"? I think it's very likely that this is about something more than a virus which is about as serious as the flu. The advice has changed on masks and the testing is suspect. The WHO is now advising against lockdowns because of how they affect the poorest. I don't wear masks and although I've had a few heated discussions in shops I've moved my business to friendlier shops. Fear is the virus. |

I have ironically been accused of being a "denier" by a work aquaintance because I sent sceptical Tweets from David Quinn who was only quoting HSE figures. I have quoted him several times in other posts.
In most of my comments on Covid here and in my own daily interactions I have been critical of how this crisis has been handled , the lack of any serious opposition to the removal of fundamental civil liberties and the dsily media hysteria run by RTE which is causing a literal national mental and economic depression. The social and economic cost of this disease allied with deaths from untreated illnesses and suicides is I fear going to be enormous. This Covid Breakdown is a major historical event which will ruin many lives.
I also believe there are serious doubts over inflated Covid death figures. This is not conspiracy theory speculation. I do draw the line at the idea this is all a hoax dreamt up by Bill Gates or who ever. It is literally incredible that practically the entire planet has closed down over some sort of hoax.
Either Covid 19 exists or it doesn't. It has killed hundreds of thousands of people globally or it hasn't. To deny it exists is a dangerous lie. We can disagree on its severity and measures taken to combat it but to pretend it isn't real and potentially lethal for many people is profoundly dishonest.

I don't think the question is whether it exists or not. But I think it's ok and right that we question what's going on and allow ourselves to imagine (know) that evil exists in the world and keep open the possibility that something very serious is happening on a global level. Ivor Cummins had a good video on it in the last few days - he says there is no second wave and shows how 2019 was a mild flu year so more people were ready to die in 2020 and 95% of those who died were too old or sick with other conditions to even be considered for ICU. When you put that beside Prof Sam McConkey talking about 3-5 years before we get out of this, and the very small number of people who went to the City West facility for example and the total lack of concern among the public health doctors for anything other than Covid (and talk of testing, tracing, vaccines etc) I find it unbelievable that there's not something up! I know it is very hard to imagine that people who seem normal could be involved in something awful but it would be mad not to keep an open mind given what happened in Germany in the last century. They could be blinkered and in a bubble and not suffering any financial loss though and a lot of the public get their news from RTE which to me is propaganda.
