Welcome to the Irish Conservatives Forum. This forum has been designed to provide an online space for Irish conservatives, and for conservatives interested in Ireland, to talk about everything that interests them. As the Irish internet is overwhelmingly liberal/progressive, I felt such a forum would be desirable.
All definitions of the term "conservative" apply. So if you are a social conservative, cultural conservative, religious conservative, libertarian conservative, or any other variety of conservative, you are welcome to post here.
Even if you are not a conservative, but are interested in the discussions, you are welcome to become a member and post here.
The forum is intended to have an Irish perspective, but you don't have to be Irish to join.
Everyone is welcome to start a thread. As conservatism applies to everything, don't feel constrained in the subjects you raise. You don't have to drag in a strained conservative angle, where none exists...if you want to talk about gardening, or the latest Star Wars movie, or your favourite album, please do so. Nothing is off-topic.
In the spirit of free speech and open discussion, moderation is extremely light on this forum. Aside from all the obvious stuff-- libel and the like-- there are only two golden rules:
1) BE NICE! You can say anything you want, within reason, but please keep a tone of courtesy and politeness towards other members...even warmth, as far as possible. Imagine you were having this interaction in a pub over a drink.
2) Please don't attribute low motives to other members, and please take what they say in good faith. How irritating is it when liberals denounce any criticism of political correctness (for example) as racist, sexist and homophobic? We can all be guilty of this, and nothing sours an atmosphere quicker. Nor does it add anything to an argument. So it's best to assume honourable motives.
Aside from that...have at it, and céad míle fáilte!
