Maolsheachlann are you deliberately striking an Evelyn Waugh style scowl in your new profile photo?

No. That's how I look all the time. I think one cannot regard modern Ireland any other way!

The new photo seems to want a drink, compared with the old photo which with drink in hand, looked like pure contentment.

Our focusing in on our founders photo does suggest we reactionaries are also part of the superficial outward appearance celebrity obsessed culture we claim to deplore!

Well, I put it up for a laugh, so I am hardly averse to comment. Ha ha! I was sitting against the hedge at the bus-stop in UCD, waiting for a bus. I had a look at my mobile phone and, doubtless through the phone pressing against something or other, my camera was on. That gave me the idea.

Do you think the Forum has become a bit quiet?

Do you think the Forum has become a bit quiet? I do, but I also think it's inevitable. The Irish Catholics Forum, of which this is a spin-off of sorts, has been going for many years and it has long slow periods-- weeks or even months. Nevertheless I will try to inject a bit more impetus into this soon!

Nevertheless I will try to inject a bit more impetus into this soon! I would post more here and the other forum if I were more adept at compiling a post. I often have the outline of a response in my head, but the response needs better thought out, some facts checked, or I just can't find the turn of phrase to articulate the thoughts as fluidly as they appeared in my head. I lose the momentum or get called away from the computer and the post isn't made. Or sometimes the post or response when finally typed looks far more insipid and inconsequential than it did in my head, when, of course, it seemed like a gem of wisdom!

I pretty much read all the posts on here, but I often have trouble coming up with something new or profound to add to the discussion. However, I really do appreciate having this forum as it can get pretty lonely in this extremely liberal area I am currently living in.

Incidentally, I notice Stephen has also become a God. Perhaps the people who designed this website were Mormons? They believe God was once a man and we can all become Gods ourselves. (Really, they do.)

(Really, they do.) I would prefer the title High King, but I suppose I will take what I'm given. I generally read about 90% of the posts. I also have trouble with getting the time to write and express what I think on a given post. some topics need so much work to compile a reply, I just say meh and do something else.

Well, you see, there lies my advantage. I don't worry about whether anything is coherent, well-thought out, or sensible. I just jump right in.

My father is in hospital at the moment. Prayers would be appreciated. I may not be able to keep a close eye on the forum for the next little while, though I'll try to look in regularly. If anybody sees anything that needs to be dealt with, trolling or whatever, please email me at Maolsheachlann@gmail.com.
