This is a new thread to track the George Hook controversy. The latest:

The Women's Council of Ireland has tweeted the following:
Rape is a serious crime. The only way rape and sexual assault can be prevented is if men stop raping - @orlanwci on @lstwrd @cooper_m
It looks as though they are quoting Orla O'Connor.
Formal logic wasn't my strong suit at school - perhaps Angelo can help here - but to my ears, that sounds as if an organisation called the National Crime Prevention Council has just tweeted:
Burglary is a serious crime. The only way burglary and home invasion be prevented is if criminals stop burgling and invading homes.
What do others think?

The world would be a rapists' paradise if that statement were true.
I wonder would they say that the only way to prevent Muslim terrorism is if Muslims stop committing acts of terror?

Maolsheachlann should set up an Irish Conservatives forum podcast, and invite people involved in controversy to be on it. First guests: George and the FG guy (sorry, forgot his name off the top of my head).
Is 96Fm the station that hosts George, I take it?

That sounds great except for my technological ineptitude!

We should have a prize for conservative(leaning) martyr of the month to be given to the latest victim of the PC Gestapo. Soon the Irish media will be conservative free zone. There is probably a nice german compound noun to describe that.

If the forum survives, I have been considering an Irish Conservative of the Year poll in December.

George's colleagues at Newstalk are circling for the kill by circulating a complaint letter looking for his sacking. Around 20 have signed according to RTE No doubt some pious feminist virtue signaller or someone with an axe to grind is behind this. I wonder will his bosses tell people to calm down and get off their self righteous bandwagon and get back to work.
Or as I suspect will they push George under the bandwagon?

I wish I had the confidence to set up a Youtube channel to discuss this kind of thing and play my part. I'd like to invite on George Hook as a show of support.
It's too bad Dave Cullen hasn't touched the story.

I don't suppose anyone would know whether the contact page on George's website actually sends emails to be read by the man himself? I was thinking of sending him a message of support, but I don't see the point if it's just going to be some admin.

Dave Cullen has now tweeted about it and he had the guts to say the obvious-- that George Hook said nothing wrong and shouldn't have apologized.
I wouldn't imagine George Hook reads all those messages himself, but I imagine he'd be told about messages of support.

Had he not apologised no doubt the Taoiseach and government ministers would have condemned him already. Those who are demanding his sacking seem to be advocating the ignoring of Hook's rights to due process in his work place.
Ideally he should have told his detractors to get a life and sod off.

It strikes me that this forum might become quite a record of controversies, as seen from an Irish conservative perspective. Looking at its previous threads is already a bit of a survey of recent talking points.
