It's been said here before many times and many ways, but Mary Robinson's election as President in 1990 was the beginning of the end. People like Una Mullally and Eimear O'Toole are now regarded as the moral consciousness of 'the nation'. And Fintan, of course, who is a leftist-globalist. Ireland really needs someone like Peter Hitchens in the media. John Waters had his moments, but always seemed brittle and easily damaged - Myers had his moments, but played contrarian for contrarian's sake too often. I must admit I'm not terribly impressed by John Waters taking off to America. We need him here. Perhaps the real leadership will come from new media like Dave Cullen, rather than old media, and from the old cultural institutions in general. I wouldn't be surprised if he left and stayed there, nor would I blame him. At least there is a vibrant Christian subculture in America. Unlike in Ireland, if it goes down, it will go down swinging.

I was unaware of the Waters article on Tuam. Fair play to him - took guts. The twitter reaction is horrendous, a disgusting lynch mob mentality. I despair.

I'm not quite sure what Australian senator Cory Bernardi was trying to achieve last week, but he introduced four conservative motions to the senate which he knew would all be defeated. The closest to achieving a bill was defeated 20-something to 30-something..... It was concerning the WHITE RIBBON DAY,anti- violence against women charity, which receives government funding. His point was that funding should be withheld while their policy remains that pregnancies resulting from violent relationships can and should be terminated at a late stage. Even minister for women,a woman,Michaelia Cash, crossed to his side. Which didn't prevent the most rabid of the Greens, Sarah HansonYoung from screaming out "misogynist b*". Until the senate president shut her up

Thought it was highly unusual to see an account of Archbishop Charles Chaput holding up the Knights Templar as role models at a Catholic Men's Fellowship Conference hosted by a Bishop Thomas Olmsted of Phoenix, earlier this year. He even specifically mentioned 'protecting [pilgrims] from Muslims'. The promotional poster seemingly displayed an image of a knight in full crusader Cross and armour. His Grace went on to say 'a real reform of male behaviour will never come about through feminist lectures, nor mass media man-shaming of celebrities and award ceremonies. A man's actions and words change only when his heart changes' I've already read some cynical commentators castigating Rome for passing over what they deemed an obvious choice for a red hat, seeing that Pope Francis declared a preference for merit over traditional sees.

Chaput is too catholic to get a Red Hat under the current mess making regime in Rome.

Two female colleagues launched into some rant about the sexual harassment controversy around me, and how the daughter of one of them had supposedly not advanced in her organization because it was a boy's club. At one point, one of them said to me that the library must be the opposite situation (because men are a minority). I told them with some passion that I wasn't going to discuss the subject, that it would make me too angry, and I considered it to be demonization of men, and walked away. Regarding servant's comments about seeming whiny and weak, etc....honestly, I don't care anymore. I think it has to be called out. I'm letting it be known as plainly as I can that I won't be on friendly relations with anyone who demonizes men. I read today about a business-lady who sees gender quotas in a different way "Shannon Youd who runs maintenance in Kalgoorlie's Super Pit and won this year's Women in Resources peoples choice award(!?) said women being promoted in their own merit were being doubted [because of quotas]...'while the targets are still there we're always going to have people who think women aren't getting the jobs for the right reasons'. Gender targets are widespread at the State's big miners, including(!) at Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines where Ms Youd is a maintenance planner. She said she had never liked the idea of being treated differently because of her gender"

And perhaps she is, but I still think gender quotas are a bad idea.

The Sydney-based, Fleet Street-style, AUSTRALIAN newspaper published two gushingly-approving pieces by columnists who are obviously happy with Brett Kavanaugh's accession. 'Foreign Editor' Greg Sheridan wrote "...It required enormous determination and judgement to defy what is threatening to become a quasi-fascist witch-burning mentality among Democrats and the American Left.....This vile process the Democrats have subjected the U.S. to had injected whole new buckets of poison into American politics". Nick Carter wrote "Brett Kavanaugh enters the U.S. Supreme Court to advance the blessed cause of common sense. The crumbling of the sexual allegations against Kavanaugh is a serious blow to #metoo, the creep-shaming campaign that empowers anyone with a Twitter account to be their own chief persecutor....a sexual allegation is the nuclear option in the armory of ad hominem warfare" Last week, in it's collection of images of the day,Reuters consciously or unconsciously included the Washington protests, prominent among them a lady with a VOTE PRO-CHOICE t-shirt, addressing perhaps more than an elephant

Disney's Prince Charming, guilty of kissing Snow white without consent and without being conscious, is the latest target of #metoo. Granted, however, that Kristen Bell isn't getting much support on this one. I've noticed, now and then, through the years, young (usually working- or tradesmen) singing along to Human League's legendary DON'T YOU WANT ME on a radio or other gadget. I can't help wondering whether the song's perennial popularity is because of it's political INcorrectness? Nobody,of course, endorses violence of any sort, but it was pretty pathetic reading a comment once, obviously from a lady that came from a non-English speaking country who was unfamiliar with the group, that she disliked the song 'it sounds like he might hurt or do something to her'. Goodness me, it does to. I think that's actually what the song is about.

The EXPRESS newspaper is often happy to report on the various idiocies of modern Britain and other places. A recent article reads "Visitors to a historic country house have hit out at a 'ridiculous' decision by the National Trust to cover paintings and statues because they depict men rather than women...covered with sheets or plastic bags to 'draw attention to the lack of representation of women' " comment: Plastic bags? NT is not very thoughtful to the arctic seals and North-Atlantic orcas "(one visitor) added:'having paid a touch under £50 to get in, it is disappointing not to be able to see the whole collection and I fail to see how hiding exhibits deemed as male can do anything to encourage female achievement'... The GREAT CRAGSIDE COVER-UP is billed as an installation by artists Kate Stobbart, Rob Blazey and Harriet Sutcliffe" comment: No mention from EXPRESS and/or NT of whether Kate, Rob and Harriet got paid for the 'art', but one should keep names in mind so as to know what exhibitions not to attend. "Kiki Claxton, programmes coordinator for National Trust North East said 'this year the National Trust is celebrating women and power... This celebration gives us the opportunity to offer visitors a different visit to Cragside" Deep

They should be putting plastic bags over the heads of any males among the security team or staff, with two holes for the eyes so that they can see. An additional hole around the mouth for ease of breathing could be optional; this would surely show how women's power has grown and how responsibly they are using it.

Excellent post on the Conservative Woman website regarding male silence on the current demonisation of men....etc.../ [/a]/ I recently "unfriended" two Facebook friends because of their persistent anti-male sexism and anti-white racism. They were both enthusiastic supporters of this latest witch-hunt...etc..?[/quote] Is this an indication of current anti-male bias, reported in today's WEST AUSTRALIAN? (Incidentally, something similar happened in Sydney about ten months ago) "(There was) a full-blown lights and sirens response from multiple police units yesterday after horrified neighbours reported hearing a toddler screaming and a man shouting death threats. Wanneroo Police yesterday tweeted that a walker had heard a male repeatedly shouting:'why don't you die'. Minutes later police were relieved to discover no one had been injured in the incident...except an unlucky home-invading spider. The red-faced man admitted he had a serious fear of spiders and apologised to police for the inconvenience." If I can remember correctly the man in Sydney actually lived alone, but had a tenor voice when threatening funnel-web spiders and a soprano scream when the spider threatened him.
