Now that we have legalised child sacrifice for the unwanted unborn Charlie Flanagan the Justice and Equality minister ( that's an Orwellian title and a half) has solemnly intoned that Blasphemy is not an Irish value and bowing to huge popular demand we will have a referendum on removing this provision in October. I jest not. I wonder what a list of Irish Values would look like? Perhaps it will be something we must all subscribe to , to avail of our civil liberties, old age pension etc. This is simply more virtue signalling by our liberal lefty secularists on their journey to create the most cutting edge hipist diverse most equal little country on the planet.
I hope the supreme being expresses his opinion on the matter to what is simply the worst and most pathetic Irish government ever. On the bright side we can vote No twice in the one year.

Have I ever voted Yes on an Irish referendum?
The citizenship referendum. I can't think of any other...
We don't really need blasphemy legislation. There are already informal punishments for blasphemy...against multiculturalism, gay rights, feminism, etc. etc.

It took me about 40 minutes to prise my hand away from the No box though. I was sad for a whole month afterwards.

In all fairness, the situation with blasphemy can't continue. Atheists are frightened to admit to their unbelief in school, college and office for fear of the consequences. Michael Nugent of Atheist Ireland suffers regular anxiety attacks at the thought of a prosecution. Hardly a week passes when we don't hear of some unfortunate religious sceptic being hauled over the coals in our legal system for paying undue respect to Christianity. Fair is fair.

Does anyone else feel ashamed of being a part of the free state now!!! Saturday of the referendum is one of the worst days of my life.(on par with my Father dying.) I am profoundly saddened but the new establishment are the ones who should be ashamed. But shame is an emotion alien to their mindset unless it is a pseudo shame for the sins of catholic Ireland. This shame for which we all (many of us who werent even born when these offences occurred) are responsible is regularly paraded and absolved by a pious apology and a wad of cash . Barristers have grown weathier on the proceeds of this guilt and delayed shame. I see a blanket attempt to pardon all those convicted of homosexual offences prior to legalisation has run into trouble as many of those convictions would still stand in current law ie they involved the abuse of minors. Micheal Martin came out with an outrageous whopper which will not be contradicted by any public figure in Ireland - He claimed people were jailed merely for being homosexual. Really? People were jailed for simply having an inclination towards homosexuality? That is the level of public discourse in this great republic.

You know at this rate, I am not sure Ireland won't become a country in a few years utterly foreign to what it is even now.

You know at this rate, I am not sure Ireland won't become a country in a few years utterly foreign to what it is even now. This is not entirely related, but Enda Kenny was the first politician I know of that toyed with the idea of forcing priests to break the confession seal by law when child molestation is mentioned. Unworkable, of course. I just learned yesterday that the Australian Capital Territory, Australia's equivalent of the District of Columbia, has become the first jurisdiction, that I've heard of,to pass these laws. One politician is now talking about it at a federal level

It is heartbreaking. It is like a bereavement in that you "forget" about it for a little while and then it hits you again with full force. I have to see my country and my fellow countrymen and women in a completely new light. It's devastating. Without wanting to trivialise the loss of your father you mention (RIP), it DOES feel like being orphaned. My root to the past has been torn away.

At mass on the feast of the Trinity in St Kevin's the preacher said that when we gather from now on and see a group of our fellow citizens we will realise 2 out of 3 of those people have voted to take innocent human life. That is something we will all encounter in the future , in family gatherings , in social circles , at work and perhaps most tragically of all at church when we gather to worship God.
Many of them take pride in what they did and justify it using christian principles. This is truly shattering. The soul of Christian Ireland has been partitioned in blood disguised as an act of compassion.

Does anyone else feel ashamed of being a part of the free state know!!! Saturday of the referendum is one of the worst days of my life.(on par with my Father dying.) Indeed so. I felt like 'shaking the dust off my feet' as regards the Republic. But in a sense we have no alternative but to stay and fight. By my calculations about 43% of those eligible to vote, voted Yes. The rest, 57% were non-voters and 'No' voters. For that 57% it is worth harbouring some hope, even though it could be validly argued that many of the non-voters might have voted Yes - we just don't know. However the government, media and other assorted supporters deserve to be opposed at every turn and their hypocrisy thrown in their face. Their narrative is, the past is dark, the present and future is light. Every blip (and there seem to be plenty) should be thrown back at them.

At the Parish Mass today in Crumlin (Antrim) an Priest(who suffers alot with bad health) was giving a sermon about how and why leo varadkar should not have been invited to St Mary Catholic teacher training College in Belfast.
A woman from the parish that goes to daily Mass got up and started shouting at him "that he had little to be at talking about Leo and abortion, when pedofiles, etc were still in the Church and you never discuss that topic." The Priest was stunned and visibly shaken. This is Gods house a Lady shouted from the back!! The Satanic woman was taken aback by this and finally retreat after the congregation started saying we are with you Father.
He caught himself and continued. After the Mass a lot of the people from the Parished thanked the Priest.
Catholicism in Ireland is not dead.

No one has the right to interrupt Mass like that, the woman in the back was right to shout her down after the initial outburst. Things are bad enough without letting people like this browbeat the few brave clerics willing to stand against the tide.
