Anti terorist armed response units are on standby in Dublin today to keep an eye on the Gay Pride march. I wonder who is likely to attack a gay parade?
Perhaps the sisters of charity strike unit will move in and drag lesbians to the Tuam extermination camp ? Or perhaps the Jewish jihadis will wade in chopping off heads? Mormon suicide bombers are a real risk too as we all know.
God forbid there is any violence today or in the future in Ireland from extremists motivated by the religion of peace. But I find it bizarre that spokespeople of the official Lgbtiaxyz community are usually the first to shout Islamaphobia if anyone criticises the one major religion that actively persecutes and executes gay people.

The security is there to prevent a riot if somebody uses the wrong pronoun.

I really really don't want to see this nonsense starting up here in Ireland, if it hasn't already, our government seems to be going along the standard European response framework everyone else is. Militarise the police, enforce police state and, eventually, shut down the internet to prevent terrorism a la Theresa May.

Re-reading this thread I'm horrified by the naked Islamophobia on display. As moderator I don't want to have hate speech, which inevitably leads to hate crimes, on my conscience. Here therefore are the new rules regarding the discussion of Islam on this forum: 1) Any reference to the origins of Islam is forbidden. This could lead to stereotyping of Muslims as aggressive. 2) Any reference to Muslim-majority countries and their laws is forbidden. This could lead to stereotyping of Muslims as repressive. 3) When discussing terror attacks, PLEASE bear in mind that terrorism is a gratuitous act of meaningless violence which doesn't represent anybody or anything. Would you say "red-haired terrorism"? Would you say "left-handed terrorism"? So why would you say "Islamic terrorism"? (Please note: this principle does not apply when it comes to Catholic priests and abuse scandals.) 4) The phrase "not all Muslims" must be used at least once a paragraph. Attachments:

The united nations ( those people who lecture us on the evil eighth ammendment which gives an unborn baby the right not to be butchered) has declared Israel is responsible for gender based violence ie beating your wife in Palestine. See Unwatch on youtube. Try not to choke on your cornflakes. There must be other reasons for gender violence in Palestine such as western patriarchy , poverty and catholicism surely? At least the religion of peace clearly condemns beating your wives.

I was just watching the RTE coverage of the National day of commemoration from kilmainham on Sunday . The religious ceremony is worth viewing. It is opened by an Imman who sings Koranic verses for several minutes which seem to go on and on and on.
A few observations ; What is the Islamic connection with Ireland's war dead? (Our enemies at Gallipoli??) No translation was given . In British interfaith ceremonies koranic verses which deny the trinity and christ's divine nature have been used in christian churches. I wonder were similar verses used here? Why does a minority faith lead the ceremony in a traditionally catholic/christian country? I can't imagine the local catholic bishop in Saudi Arabia getting similar billing.
You can view this small gesture as a wonderful example of Irish openess and tolerance or perhaps another example of cultural cringe and retreat before the religion of peace.

Cato, I almost thought you were joking for a moment, but I went to the RTE Player and watched it. By god, it seems to go on forever! I like the way he refers to "our country" when he's so clearly not from here and struggles with English. Utter PC insanity.

Be fair, Cato. I can easily imagine a Christian cleric leading an inter-faith ceremony in Saudi Arabia or most other Muslim-majority countries.
I can also imagine a flying car.

I don't really see the point of it myself.
Better relations between the Christian churches, yes. But why try to minimize or downplay differences which are, in fact, extremely real and important?

A friend of mine who likes to regard himself as a left-leaning liberal and hater of the Catholic Church got a rude awakening today. He had previously been nonchalant about the spread of Islam in Ireland, in fact thought it was a sign of the countries 'progression' etc. He was in a cafe this morning when he heard a loud kerfuffle below. An angry spat had broken out between a Muslim man and some guy. Whatever the cause, the phrase 'You are insulting my religion' was uttered, violence momentarily threatened from each side, and eventually the other chap left. My friend was shocked. I told him, with no little Schadenfreude, that this was but the thin edge of the wedge and that after all his previous yak he should be embracing the 'New Ireland'. He said nothing.....

To be fair to Islam, I'm not sure what "the religion of peace" is meant to mean, or where the phrase originated. What is a "religion of peace"? Is Christianity a religion of peace? Christ is the Prince of Peace but he himself said he came to bring, not peace, but a sword. I don't know if it's really fair to try to sum up any religion with one word.
