Poor Nagasaki was the most catholic area of Japan. The second atom bomb was dropped ironically on the feast of the transfiguration.

Any opinions on the departure of Steve Bannon?

Depressed. Disappointed. Hoping Trump will still be listening to him in an unofficial capacity.

Any opinions on the departure of Steve Bannon? It's very hard to get a read of what's happening behind the scenes. One possibility is that Bannon left to take the heat off POTUS for the full assault being waged currently. Sarah Sanders, Stephen Miller, and Kellyanne Conway, all of whom I trust, are still there. Or perhaps Trump is really a Globalist, as Ted Cruz warned. Only time will tell. The Left is totally unhinged with statues disappearing overnight including calls for the destruction of Mount Rushmore and the removal of the Ten Commandments from public display. It's like something out of a dystopian science fiction novel. When St Laurence O'Toole's heart was stolen I had the most horrible of feelings that has never left. I believe it's only a matter of time before our own roadside shrines are defaced and removed. Maybe when that happens Irishmen and Irishwomen will have to then choose where they stand. Perhaps the majority will prefer to worship in the Cult of Reason whilst a minority gravitate toward the Cult of the Supreme Being.

I'm more hopeful. I think Bannon can be more potent outside the WH than in. As he said, he's got his hands back on his weapons. His task, in my opinion, will be to shore up Trump's 40% base of support and re-energise the desire for change that got Trump to Washington in the first place. Inside the WH he was clearly fighting a running battle with the globalists et al. Now he is free again.

After hearing a discussion about this on Marian Finucane today. I'm feeling more hopeful, too.
The best part being that Marian and her guest were both outright Bannon-haters, so their take is hardly wishful thinking. They both agreed with what you've just said.

A friend wrote this in an email to me today:
"I see your hero in the White House is behaving like a complete buffoon again. Although, I think this is a deliberate ploy to bring maximum chaos, disruption and disrepute to the office of president and government in a bid reduce the function of federal government and increase the influence of corporations and business magnates in managing the nations affairs."

The amount of self-righteousness this man is inspiring in people is astonishing. And to be uncharitable, I bet most of his detractors do very little for anyone.

I wouldn't even know where to begin with this, it sounds just like the Irish Times, Indo, and Irish radio. For one, the corporations and business magnates hate Trump and want him to fail - but let's not let facts get in the way. Trump Derangement Syndrome seems to cause critical thinking skills to fly out the window.

The amount of self-righteousness this man is inspiring in people is astonishing. And to be uncharitable, I bet most of his detractors do very little for anyone. The contempt these affluent, self-serving elites have for the American voter, from whom Trump is a surrogate, is astonishing. The RSBN pregame interviews outside the arena before Trump rallies show Americans of every race and religion and from all walks of life united across racial divides in support of this presidency - this "jobs president" - in a way that I have never seen before. You will never see or hear any of their words of love for their president on CNN, MSNBC, BBC, or RTE, however. Why do these media elites, and their counterparts in politics and higher education, have so much contempt for ordinary working people?

Mourning Ireland, I did in fact point out to my friend that the corporate elites have opposed Trump at every turn.

Mourning Ireland, I did in fact point out to my friend that the corporate elites have opposed Trump at every turn. You have more patience than me. The cognitive dissonance with these people is so great that I have given up. This is what I heard the other day from an Ivy-league PhD: Republican congressman shot in Washington by a Leftist - Trump's fault. Left-wing Protestor killed by a Far-rightest - Trump's fault. Barcelona terrorism - Trump's fault. North Korea nuclear threat - Trump's fault. Statues of Robert E. Lee and Columbus that have stood for decades suddenly offending people deeply - Trump's fault. Inner city gang violence - Trump's fault.

You will never see Gene Kerrigan or Fintan O'Toole writing about beautiful young conservatives like Margaret Howell and Omar Navarro, but they fill my heart with hope nonetheless: www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4N3cwCo8Zg

An article reprinted from the English Telegraph group by someone named Molly Kiniry is perhaps the first balanced piece of print news I've seen on Mr Trump.... "what exactly has us president Donald Trump done wrong now?".... "Trump appears for once to have followed the script, afraid of stumbling into a repeat of George w Bush's calamitous performance"... "Trump's only break with tradition came via his decision to donate $1 million of his own money. Such generously should be applauded. Doing nothing was not an option" I was surprised, on the other hand, to read James Murray treat Trump in a slightly caustic manner in the latest an ANNALS
