I am surprised we don't have a thread relating to President Trump already. I have reservations about him but am gradually warming to him or perhaps am getting more and more impatient with his critics. Today he announced that Transexuals cannot serve in the armed forces. Expect a leftist liberal meltdown.
Imagine Napoleon or Churchill or Reagan announcing with a straight face that the military was a safe space for transexuals and not a fighting force designed to kill their enemies. No wonder Obama was despised by America's foes.

As for trannies in the army, expect to hear repeated reference to this lot. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacred_Band_of_ThebesI don't really care whether transgenders make good soldiers or not. I think traditional gender roles should be promoted by all the institutions of society.

Regarding Trump, I don't have much of a handle on his American policies. People say his plan to bring heavy industry back to America is doomed. Well, I don't know about that. I always thought free trade was overpraised, though I'm not an economist, and wondered what was so ridiculous about economic protectionism. I'd be interested to know what people think of his health care bill.
But I'm definitely all in favour of his less interventionist foreign policy, and his reaffirmation of the nation state and opposition to the globalist order.
And I do like how wild he drives all the liberals, and his repudiation of political correctness.

The convicted transexual traitor Chelsea Manning was given mostly unchallenged coverage to criticise the decision transexuals should be banned from serving in the US military . The summer is a quiet news time and I suppose journalists need to fill space in newspapers and news programmes with something that loosely resembles fact.
Chelsea suggested abolishing the military and spending the saved cash on transexuals surgery needs. That would pay for surgery for everyone on the planet with change left over. Perfect.
Why is the US army allowed to refuse to employ disabled people, pregnant women pacifists, or jihadists ? Shocking this discrimination carry on.

But, now that I'm here,I wonder what Americans DO think when confronted with the fact that the army has been paying for these operations?

The Donald is an immoral Dumpster fire. That being said he has appointed Neil Gorsuch as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court and if all he does is appoint originalist conservatives to the post his election would be a success in my cynical mind. Who needs Democracy when you have the Supreme Court, God bless America.

I have been profoundly worried over the last few days about the prospect of nuclear war or the use of nuclear weapons most likely by accident in the Korean region. In the 1960s we came close to global destruction over the Cuban missile crisis. In the 1980s I remember my mother crying over her fears we would do the unthinkable when there was controversy over cruise missile deployment in Europe.
Last night I dreamt of the beginings of a global war and when I woke I could hear jet engines. For a few seconds I froze . Thankfully they were low flying passenger jets! I watched the movie On the Beach last week based on the novel by Nevil Schute where Australians are the only people left alive after an accidental nuclear apocalypse and slowly begin to die off. You don't see a single dead body but it is a spooky and strangely haunting movie.
I am worried this is what August 1914 felt like. The stakes though are much higher now. President Trumph is acting in a most disturbing way. I am a firm believer in speaking softly and carrying a big stick. However the verbal brinkmanship that he has gotten into and escalated is truly alarming. I don't think this is a case of a hostile liberal media bias either. Pray wise decisions will be made.

No, I think Donald Trump is doing the right thing. What else could he do? I just saw an interview with a native of Guam on CNN and he was very grateful for Trump's stance.
I remember being terrified of nuclear war in my childhood, and the eighties. I didn't go to sleep the night the first Gulf War broke out. I read David Copperfield all night and I was also lying in bed wondering when the bombs would start to fall. (I don't know how I expected it to happen so soon). I was also very frightened during the South Ossetia crisis in 2008.
This time I'm not really worried. At least not yet. China doesn't seem willing to back up North Korea.

To be honest, I was more scared of a nuclear war in the case of Hillary Clinton winning.

Its all the accidental stuff that can go wrong that bothers me. If the US could knock out North Koreas nuclear capacity like the Israelis did with Iraq and later Syria I would be all for out . Unfortunately that window has passed. Tin pot dictators realise now it is only by possessing nuclear weapons that you can guarantee your personal rule. The more countries that possess the bomb the more likely usage is. Should a bigger power get sucked in then it's like Sarajevo 1914 all over again except the stakes are so much higher. Shouting back at a bully and a nasty thug may make Trumph feel good but it only hightens tension. It is truly outrageous that North Korea has directly on many occasions threatened to attack the USA . This is widely ignored by the rest of the world which also says something about the level of global anti american sentiment and hypocrisy .Trumph needs to outwit the North Koreans and that calls for a cool head. The americans have the bigger stick. They dont need to shout or rant.

Whatever one may make of the current situation between Trump and North Korea it was inspiring to see the people of Guam praying publicly for their territory, especially at Catholic Masses and in a church dedicated to their local martyr, BL Diego Luis. I hadn't realised the island was over 80% Catholic.
